چکیده

17 α Methyl testosterone is a synthetic steroid hormone having androgenic properties. It used in aquaculture, medical treatments, sports as doping drugs, improving food efficacy but its residue meat and their products can cause risk to the human, animals environment. In this article, we have focused on developing homologous ELISA using 17α testosterone-3-Carboxymethyloxime-Bovine serum albumin antiserum testosterone-3-Carboxymethyloxime-Horseradish peroxidase enzyme conjugate. Immunogen conjugate both were prepared by N-hydroxysuccinimide mediated carbodiimide reaction method. The sensitivity, affinity ED50 of assay found be 0.11 ng/ml, 0.02x10-8 L/mol 5.78 ng/ml respectively. cross reactivity for combination was seen with eight steroids out 59 structurally related steroids. then studied analytical variables like recovery (94.8%-111.6%), precision (Inter Intra-assay coefficient variation less than 10%), correlation (R2= 0.96) comparing commercially available kit further validated measuring levels methyltestosterone rat after injecting rats intramuscularly.

Masculinization of Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) through Immersion in 17α- Methyltestosterone or 17α-Methyldihydrotestosterone

One of the most common techniques for producing mono-sex populations is steroid-induced sex inversion. This involves the administration of synthetic androgens (to produce male populations) or estrogens (to produce female populations). Several methods of steroid administration are possible, including injection, microencapsulation, feeding of steroid, and immersion of fry in steroid solutions. Th...

Synthesis and chemical reactions of the steroidal hormone 17α-methyltestosterone.

Structural modifications of natural products with complex structures like steroids require great synthetic effort. A review of literature is presented on the chemistry of the steroidal hormone 17α-methyltestosterone that is approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States as an androgen for estrogen-androgen hormone replacement therapy treatment. The analog also offers specia...

Induction of Primary Male in Juvenile Red Spotted Grouper Epinephelus akaara by Immersion of 17α-Methyltestosterone

We investigated the androgenic effects of 17α- methyltestosterone (MT) on gonadal sex reversal in juvenile red spotted grouper Epinephelus akaara. The fish were immersed in 17α-MT at 1 and 5 mg/L. Treatment method of 17α-MT was once weekly for 4 and 8 weeks. Fish were sampled at 12 months after end of the treatment period in order to histological analysis. At the initiation of an experiment (70...

Effects of 17α-Methyltestosterone on Growth and Induced Sex Change in Longtooth Grouper Epinephelus bruneus (Bloch)

We examined the effects of 17α-methyltestosterone (MT) on growth and induced sex change in the longtooth grouper Epinephelus bruneus. The growth rate for body weight (GRW) and specific growth rate (SGR) of the group injected with MT over 8 weeks were significantly higher than those of the sham-injected control group, the group injected over 4 weeks, and the control group. Of the orally administ...

Effects of 17α-methyltestosterone on the reproduction of the freshwater snail Biomphalaria glabrata.

17-α-methyltestosterone (MT) is a synthetic hormone used in fish hatcheries to induce male monosex. Snails hold promise as possible test models to assess chemicals acting on the endocrine system. Biomphalaria glabrata is an aquatic gastropod mollusk (Pulmonata, Planorbidae) that can be easily maintained in aquaria, predisposing the species for use in ecotoxicological testing. This study evaluat...
